Anyone who owns a pet will know just how quickly they become the central focus of a household. The same goes for Abby and Cam, who live in the adorable town of New Plymouth with their three loveable creatures Olive & Frank (French Bulldogs) and Ralph (the Sphinx cat).
Olive is their white French Bulldog, very naughty, always wanting attention, snores a lot and is, of course, unbelievably cute and cuddly. Frank is the man of the house; reliable and responsible, gentle and charming. He also likes to curl up for some quality fart time. Ralph on the other hand, is next level. On first impression, a very bald, very thin, quite ugly cat. On second impression, Ralph is the best cat in the world. A stellar personality, he plays and jogs with the dogs, comes out for walks, rides around in the back seat, is extremely affectionate and loves a little spank on the back so much so that he has a bald patch. This trio run the house – they greet you, lick you, sit on you, sleep with you, travel with you and play with you. You fall in love and then you have to leave.
The humans of the house (Abby and Cam) are also equally as brilliant as their animals. Abby is an all-round people magnet, exuding warmth and sass, she is a BRILLIANT cook (see her food blog Feasting & Frank here), is probably New Plymouth’s best op-shopper and sports a shaved head like no ones business. Cam is one the coolest, most hardest working people you may ever meet. He makes a supremely good coffee, casually runs marathons, is an extreme perfectionist and an absolute sweetheart.
Abby and Cam’s home immediately steals your heart with its beautiful wooden floors and big statement lightbulbs. Filled with New Plymouth’s finest second-hand scores from Mid-Century furniture to New Zealand-made crockery, there are flowers everywhere, all hand-picked from their garden (which is bloody thriving).
They may not be in this house forever, but for now it’s the place they’ll call home. A place where their family and friends drop in for a coffee and a chat in the morning, or a cigarette and a champagne in the evening. It’s tranquil and homely, considered but not uptight. It’s dinner parties and garden parties, sun bathing and hair shaving. It’s home to personal collections and big conversations. It’s a house that takes you to ocean and into the forest. It introduces you to new friends, incredibly strong families and a small town with a very big heart.
