Flowers and cigarettes. Flowers are the one thing that make me go a little bit gooey. There is nothing like having fresh flowers in your house, they sort of bring the walls to life with their scent and color. I also love being witness to the slow decay they go on throughout the week too, each time is different. I know I keep posting about these wonderful editorials that are in this month’s Vogue Italia March 2010 issue so I thought I would do a little editing and compiling.
‘Suggestions’ and ‘So Dreamy’ are two editorials which I think were worth the sharing. I know the ‘Suggestions’ images don’t feature flowers but they do feature cigarettes. I am not a smoker but have always enjoyed the smell of cigarettes, especially before the tobacco is lit, and am not bothered by my friends constant need for outside chatting. I think flowers and cigarettes are two outstanding sensory triggers for me. Both take me back to different times and places, lending themselves to memories and moments.
‘Suggestions’ is a very sophisticated look at being a woman. the perch of her hand with a cigarette, the quiet moments women share between each other. Although it does suggest a woman always enjoys her ‘girly’ moments. A very sensual editorial woo-ing us with the attractiveness of femininity, they way a woman laughs, chats and handles herself. ‘So Dreamy’ is a more technical way of enjoying flowers via the use of collage. The oversized pink blooms are emphasized with deliberate use of over lapping placed on the model face, but you still get that sensual feeling of the enjoyment of flowers, scents and being a woman.
