The one we’ve all been waiting for… the new collection from Ursa Major. I love Miss Jones‘ work, I could wear a piece on every finger and every limb, so this is exciting!
The new Ursa Major Modern Collection No. 03 by Kate Jones is inspired by modern art, sculpture, and a bit of mid-century modern design. Sculptors, artists, and designers such as Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, Bruce Beasley, Gio Ponti and Lucy Rie were also part of the influence on the new range. The look book, beautifully showing off each piece, is photographed and designed by Haw-lin Services.
Ursa Major has also just arrived at Sancy and Regent which you can find here. Sancy and Regent are a UK based store featuring a few select designers such as Abraxas Rex and Nora Kogan. I also like what they have said about Kate’s designs;
Creating something new from old inspirations Ursa Major succeeds in crafting the subtle with the distinct and the contemporary with the timeless. Using the finest materials and taking inspiration from a colourful array of cultures, architectural structures and natural formations Kate creates with an element of mystery, leaving the pieces open for personal interpretation. The company name refers to both the sailboat in the Caribbean that Kate lived on as a child and the Latin translation of the constellation Big Bear. This balance of the personal with the universal, coupled with a focus on exquisite material and craft gives Ursa Major jewellery an intriguing and distinctive aesthetic with character and a sense of integrity.
