The Velvet Underground “Venus in Furs, live in January 1966” video is filmed on 16mm by Jonas Mekas at the Annual Dinner of the New York Society for Clinical Psychiatry, Delmonico’s Hotel, New York City, January 13, 1966.
Also featured in the video is Edie Sedgewick, Gerard Malanga and Andy Warhol. This piece of footage was originally included in the film ‘Scenes from the Life of Andy Warhol’. Possibly the first live performance of the band playing under the name of “Andy Warhol and the Exploding Plastic Inevitable”.
