Tuesday’s Tune: Long Journey

I stumbled across the Allah-Las yesterday after never hearing of them before and was instantly hooked. Not only for their Brian Jonestown-esque groove, tambourine rattles and road trip worthy lyrics, but also the way their band’s website has some of the best downloadable mix-tapes from other bands, some I’ve also never heard of.

A little bit of background always helps you seal the deal too… non? This quote from Pitchfork, “Three of the four members met while working at one of the country’s great record stores, Amoeba on Sunset Boulevard, where they spent countless hours studying up on the vintage sounds that compose their affectingly melancholy self-titled debut”. Nice.
