Said to have launched the electric folk or English folk rock movement, the British band Fairport Convention‘s fourth album Liege & Lief is full of Celtic goodness. Not to mention the hallowing voice of Miss Sandy Denny – noted as the only guest vocalist on a Led Zeppelin studio album, when she shared a duet with Robert Plant for The Battle of Evermore on Led Zeppelin IV.

I couldn’t pick just one song from the album so I’ve narrowed it down to two: Tam Lin – an adaptation of the traditional Celtic folk song, and Come All Ye – an original composition.

So close your eyes, imagine you are standing on the foothills of Scotland somewhere, your hair has gone a little red, and it’s 1969. Enjoy!
