Tuesday’s Tune: Led Zeppelin Celebration Day

Anyone who knows me will know that I love Led Zeppelin, so it will be of no surprise that I did everything in my power to get to see their Celebration Day live concert film last week. Celebration Day was the concert by Led Zeppelin, in tribute to Atlantic Records founder; Ahmet Ertegun, played at the O2 Arena in London in 2007, and yes, they still got it!!

All still so in-synch with each other, Roberts Plant’s voice was criticized for not being able to reach the high notes like he used to- although this may have been true, there was something else he added in return and he still had that power, sophistication and playfulness with Jimmy Page as he always has. Oh, and Jimmy Page! That guy is the only person I’ve heard to make his guitar scream and sing along with Plant like it does. And lets not forget John Paul Jones either, playing bass and keys, with the most amazing chord melodies on the track “Trampled Under Foot”, the cruisey bass player was still outstanding.

Taking John Bonham’s place in the drummer’s seat was his son, Jason Bonham who, without comparing, did a bloody great job of seamlessly fitting in to what could be described as the most cohesive and in-tune band to ever play together. He cried. So did my Mum. Yeah, I went with my Mum. And she air guitar-ed in the movie theatre.

Led Zeppelin!! Fucking legends!!
