The Velvet Underground was said to be the dark horse in the giddy pop culture of the American sixties. Over the course of their five-year career, the Velvet’s brilliance was perhaps eclipsed by their New York art-world connections with Andy Warhol et all, but these days no one can deny the sheer lyrical and musical talents hidden inside their albums. Having never quite come into the commercial picture at the time, The Velvet Underground could now take some credit for starting the musical echo heard throughout the early work of musicians such as David Bowie, Roxy Music, the Cars, and the Psychedelic Furs.

Tuesday;s Tune is The Velvet Underground’s Foggy Notion, 1969. Best played loud.
