SUMU is a Melbourne based label founded by multi-disciplinary artist Sonia Gill in exploration of her British Indian heritage. Transcendence by SUMU is an expression of consciousness inspired by Indian cremation rituals. Through texture, embroidery and print, Gill explores the colour white as a symbol for mourning within Indian culture.
