The Namaste Girl

Remedying a societal need to ‘slow down’, Melbourne-based designer Stephanie Downey of Dress Up‘s ‘Namaste’ collection provides both respite and reinvigoration that keeps the wearer’s needs and experience at the core.

This season, Dress Up also invited Melbourne-based ceramicist Chela Edmunds of Takeawei to design a textile screen print titled ‘Asana’ (meaning yoga pose). The vibrant 1950’s style two-tone pattern featured on fabric and ceramics is made up from the negative spaces created by yoga poses.

As a lover of both yoga and ceramics the ‘Namaste’ collection totally appealed to me. The lookbook is fun and playful, at the same time as looking modern and sophisticated. I love the way it celebrates movement and function and looks like the perfect errand-running wardrobe. So, after feeling like I wanted to jump right in to the Namaste lookbook and join in on the stretching and strengthening, I asked Stephanie to introduce Anyonegirl to the Namaste girl….
