Too many late nights and consecutive days of work mean that soup is on the menu this weekend. A hearty broth of locally sourced ingredients will hopefully mend my coarse throat and tired eyes from the inside out. While my house currently smells of Nag Champa and coffee, I hope that in a few hours time my kitchen will spill the aroma of bubbling, hot, nourishing soup into my home, teasing on our memories of home-cooked winter meals.

Naturally, I’ll burn my tongue in the process of ‘testing’ the broth, and when it is ready to be consumed, we’ll need something to dunk. Because as my French mother will tell you, “you always need something to dunk and mop up the last of the soup” – so it’s toasted bread with lashing of butter and marmite. A kiwi kid at heart.

Enjoy your weekend. x
