teenagersintokyo aren’t teenagers nor from Tokyo. They are four girls and a guy who met a decade ago on their first day of high school, and formed a band in Grade Seven art class. Their very limited edition debut single ‘Very Vampyr’ is a disco underground gem produced by Jono Ma from Los Valentinos and Knife Machine. Judging by the dizzy chants of lead singer Samantha Lim and the ghoulish gang-like backing vocals from the rest of the band, teenagersintokyo may well be the musical score for ‘Lost Boys’ of the 21st Century. Not to mention the amazing albulm art, which I am told is done by Miska (keyboards) ! Impressive! teenagersintokyo have shared the stage with Gossip, CSS, The Slits and Cut Off Your Hands, amongst others. Picked up by Back Yard Recordings, home to Gossip and Chromeo teenagersintokyo touring the UK in April. These guys are hip cute and make you stamp ya feet!
