There is a secret little hut tucked away in the hills of the Coromandel which offers its visitors a reclusive sanctuary perfectly nestled inside the native bush. This quaint log-walled hut is fully equipped with an open fire, views of the ocean through towering Kauri trees, and original stained glass windows…
Dreamy, right? Well, this was ‘option b’.
Harriet Were originally thought about photographing Penny Sage’s Spring/Summer ’14 campaign at her family’s kiwi fruit farm, where there’s a flowing river and a little hut that her dad built when they bought the land. However, typically unpredictable kiwi weather diverted Harriet’s plans, she switched locations and headed to the coast.
It was a 30 minute walk up hill through the bush and over some streams. It was cold but we were lucky the sun was out for most of the day. The hut was just as I had imagined, high up, inventible signs of rats and the best views of the ocean. Marie was great, it was very relaxed – I love that girl. I thought the collection’s beautiful colours and textures would work really well in those surroundings… I think they did! — Harriet Were
I will be the first to get behind anyone wanting to celebrate our beautiful country, so I am very excited to share the first and exclusive look at one of my most favourite campaigns for this season (created by some of my most favourite people!), Sleepaway by Penny Sage.
