Designing for the likes of Nina Ricci and Rochas and then with his own brand Olivier Theyskens (which knocked the socks off any other competitor around), Olivier Theyskens can now look back at his brilliant career that has spanned over the last ten years. Choosing to honor his retrospective via the medium of photography, Olivier Theyskens has joined with long time friend and photographer, Julien Claessens, who normally only shoots architecture and portraiture, but Theyskens states ‘His work is very personal to me. It doesn’t look like photo reportage or fashion pictures. I know Julien as an artist photographer and I see the link between his work and this. I can see his sensibility and what attracts him to taking these pictures which personally I really like a lot.’
‘The Other Side Of The Picture’ is a ten year collaboration of reflection over the course of Olivier Theyskens moments, captured for a place within the book which is released through Assouline throughout NYC Fashion Week. I have chosen a few images below for teaser purposes, and as for an indication of his next move? Theyskens states, ‘Ah that I cannot tell!’
