Recognised as one of the more rockier-sounding yé-yé girls to come out of France, Sylvie Vartan sung and danced her way from being the “la collégienne du twist” (twisting schoolgirl) in French rocker Frankie Jordan’s EP, to becoming one of the countries most influential performers.

The 60’s were spent with close friend and fellow musician Francoise Hardy, and her then-husband Johnny Hallyday. The ‘golden couple’ met during her second concert in Paris Olympia hall and announced their engagement over the radio less than a year later.

I’m loving her for her sweet little dance moves, her cropped rose-gold bangs, her alluring tooth-gap, and that French-y cosmic charm…
