There is this strip down the middle of the motorway heading south that during the peak of the spring season breaks out in to a unorganized stream of wild flowers. All different colours and sizes, it is a real treat to drive past. I always wonder if it was somebody’s idea or if it has just happened naturally. After reading this article at The New York Times Magazine, I think everyone else should read it too. Inspiring and forward thinking, the article touches on the idea of a new, modern way to live in an urban environment;

The city may have become our habitat, but we are increasingly learning how we can share it with other species… For many a city dweller, this is about as close to nature as they will ever get. For urban bees, butterflies and birds, this is nature.

Monday’s Muse is for all of the potential areas we could, and should, turn into pockets of wild plants, flowers and tussocks that we can maintain inside of our already existing concrete jungle.
