Maaike Mekking’s fashion showing in London looked pretty fun! One model dressing and undressing her way through a collection of garments in a bedroom looking room full of furniture, lamps and stools. Now we get to see the Maaike Mekking Winter 2010-11 Collection via the medium of a fairly tame look book. I do love how the same model is used and is very ‘un-done’ with no make-up and hair action. The collection is full of the ‘girlie’ pulls of sheer long dresses, woolen camel colored coats, boyfriend denim jeans in the perfect shade of blue and mustard pants. Well, maybe not all girls want mustard pants, that might just be me? Anyway- it also has wonderful details that make you do a double take, the almost tribal markings, on skin colored jumpsuits looking like all over tattoos, the cut-out dress which remind me of New Power Studio’s last collection but with a much more feminine approach. The fabrics are bulky but the cut has enabled the pieces to become wearable and easy, not hard to put with other pieces that sit in your ‘wearable arts’ section of your wardrobe. No I don’t have one of those either.
Below is the Maaike Mekking Winter 2010-11 Collection and you can watch her London Fashion Week showing here.
