Home. I just got off the long haul flight from New York City to New Zealand. A long flight, a casual 26 hours in total. Although, this time my personal experience was made a little easier with the help of United Airlines giving me three whole seats to myself. Nice. I slept with my legs up, over three blankets and rested my head on three pillows. As good as it gets.
As the coastline of the rugged and wild west coast came into view of my tray-sized window I nearly fell off my chair. Don’t worry I was wearing my seatbelt. The rolling valleys of mountain and native bush, then Lion Rock of Piha beach… ah, home. I could almost smell it. We became the jam inside the ‘land of the long white cloud’ sandwich as we made our descent.
I had just spent the last hour watching The Rolling Stones documentary ‘Exile On Main Street’ and had read the latest issue of Russh from front cover to back so I was feeling rather (very) bohemian and free. A perfect way to enter my ‘where my heart is’ home.
I’ll get you some insights into what happens down under fashion, art and street wise while I am here and when I get back to NYC I have an exciting project in the making to share!!
Below is The Rolling Stones ‘Casino Boogie’… the lyrics for this song were made simply from Mick and Keith having no idea what to sing about and in desperation to finish recording their album opted for writing random phrases down on cut up pieces of paper and joining them together to make up a song.. Clever boys in the South of France…
