Clothing should tell a story.
The way we dress should start a conversation.
Greatest Friend
Greatest Friend tells you stories…
A Victorian White Cotton Garden Pinafore hangs next to an Edwardian Swim Shirt. Inappropriate it would be to hang these pieces on a rack from Mon-Fri 9-5pm. No, these garments demand a little more intimacy. Curator Angela Winter Means takes a more affectionate approach with her ever-evolving offering of vintage available at The Trading Post – her pop up store open once a week and by-appointment. Here, Angela can assure that each piece is presented in all of its layers: beautiful textiles, supreme workmanship, wearability, relativity, history, detail and care.
Greatest Friend starts a conversation…
Vintage, by definition, requires fifty years to obtain such credit. These garments have out-lived the usual offering of recycled labels and our wardrobe’s fast-fashion has-beens. This collection is truly antique. Details such as hand loomed cotton, quilting and celluloid buttons catch the eye and spark tactile interest. From here starts the conversation surrounding the history woven and worn into each and every garment. But aside from this, there is also the aspect of devotion: a labor of love in the hours spent mending and nurturing these pieces that would otherwise become the next discarded treasure.
