Flicking through endless books in bookshops is the best way to loose yourself (and kill some time). I spent yesterday looking through an Architecture Design catalogue where I stumbled across my dream home. Im not usually one to get attached to home environments but there is something about this house and its surroundings that engulfs me. I grew up in a small suburb called Titirangi, in Auckland, New Zealand, where the area has adopted the name of ‘the wild west’, a name that probably stems from the dense bush and wild coastal beaches. This house, designed by Bark Design Architects, owns that same powerful spirit that i feel Titirangi holds, which is why I am so drawn to it.
For a start it is called Bush House. A tree house sort of feel with a huge amount of glass walling so that indoor-outdoor feeling is integrated into a vast space which hold neither. Wooded interior and framing alongside high ceilings, mimics the natural surroundings that it lives in. To me this is how a home should feel- natural, safe and open.
Have a look at all the indoor and outdoor shots of Bush House here, not to mention the other amazing projects this team has been involved in lately. Enjoy.
