Recently, we were invited for an afternoon at jewellery designer Charlotte Penman‘s home studio. Nestled amongst tropical plants, Nikau palms and fruit trees, their house was originally built by Charlotte’s own Grandfather during the ’50s. It’s a beautiful open-plan layout with sunshine pouring in and over their collection of art, the front porch was extended to reflect the structure of a marae, and views stretch out into the garden, across to Charlotte’s studio.
While being treated to a feast of fresh bread with lashing of plum jam (homemade from Charlotte’s plum tree), blue cheese, smoked salmon and sauerkraut, their rescue pup Mango soaked up the sun and Charlotte’s youngest Florence entertained us with her outfit changes (beautifully calling her striped dress her “lines all round”dress). We could have stayed there all afternoon…
Thank you for having us, Charlotte!
