Albergo Colazzo by Mary Gaudin

“The Italian Hotel Albergo Colazzo, near Lake Maggiore, is run by two sisters, now in their 70s, both of whom have recently lost their spouses. They weren’t sure how long they’d be able to keep to hotel running. I’d tagged along with my partner on a weekend Aikido workshop in June. The group stayed in this hotel, seemingly untouched since the 1960s.
Each morning I took my time over a breakfast of coffee and home baked Italian lemon cake in the sunny dining room. A lady from Switzerland also spent the mornings in the dining room. She told me each afternoon she would walk in the surrounding hills. She was writing a novel.” — Mary Gaudin

I always love Mary’s photographs, they have a way of being both warm and informative, like the feeling you get from a really great conversation with a close friend. See more of Mary’s beautiful work at marygaudin.com
