Most designers seem to making a recession-related change by splitting their collections in half (ish), giving us the easy and wearable, no-brainers to buy, buy, buy, and then alongside them producing the higher-end looking garments that give the collection that lift and scale (in both design and price line). Almost every season has it’s basic lines that sometimes produce older, successful garments in different color ways and fabrics, which I think is great, it means you can re-purchase your old bashed out favorites and refresh your wardrobe without sacrificing your love for the brand. Maison Martin Margiela Cruise 2011 collection does this with the most flawless of construction that no other could grasp. Here we see ‘basics’ such as suiting, military jackets and skirts paired alongside two-colored jersey jumpsuits and long, sheer tails of skirts as layers.
I love the accents of red and the nude on nude one piece.
