Girl about town, Stella Schnabel, is embarking on a project to release the desire to express herself. You Wont Miss Me, a new film directed by Ry Russo-Young, tells the story of Shelly Brown, a 20-something actress trying to sort out her life after being released from a psychiatric hospital. Fragile, funny, and brutally honest, Stella Schnabel’s portrayal has been described as ‘a raw, uninhibited style that’s unmatched right now, and her talent extends well beyond acting’ by film reviewer to Klaus Kinski.
Not stopping there, Schnabel also helped write the script to You Wont Miss Me, which won the 2009 Gotham Award for “Best Film Not Playing at a Theater Near You” along with Russo-Young.
And if that wasn’t enough of a breakthrough, this June, Schnabel will also appear in Miral, a film directed by her father, Julian Schnabel, about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, as seen through the eyes of different women.
James Kaliardos of Geometrie Variable sat down with Stella to talk about her recent ventures, what drives her and where she wants to go. You can read the full interview here.
